JAC to decide on strike tomorrow after HC verdict

Hyderabad: In the wake of the High Court referring the RTC crew strike case to Labour Court, RTC employees’ unions’ JAC convener Ashwathama Reddy today said they will announce their final decision whether to continue the strike or not on Wednesday after the court delivered its verdict on privatization bus routes.

Speaking to mediapersons here this evening, Ashwathama Reddy said the JAC and the employee’s unions have agreed to declare its decision on the strike after the court’s verdict on Wednesday.

The JAC convener held talks with JAC leaders and employees unions on the ongoing strike.

It may be mentioned here that the High Court has directed the Labour Commissioner to pursue the RTC strike case in the Labour court in two weeks. Though they planned to call off the strike on Tuesday, it was reportedly decided to continue the strike for two weeks. However,  Reddy said he would give clarity on the issue on Wednesday.

The RTC JAC chief, after calling off hunger strike for holding talks, sent feelers to call off the 46-day long strike and get ready for duties. Though the State government rejected talks with striking leaders and termed the strike illegal, there was no guarantee to retain them   in service. Perhaps this forced the JAC to continue strike for two more weeks, it is said. It is learnt that the RTC JAC and employees have decided not to continue the stir. The Labour Court is to give its decision on the RTC strike and related issues in two weeks. (NSS)
