Jalpally Municipality to roll out another road proposal soon

Second time in the row, the Jalpally Municipality is going to utilize the Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS) fund this year by rolling out another C.C Road project from Osmania Hotel to Kothapet soon. Recently, the municipality took up road work at Sri Ram Colony utilizing Rs.50 Lakh of fund for the first time.

“The Municipality received a total amount of Rs.4 crore under Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS) in the year 2020, however, it eligible to utilize only 70 percent of the fund as per the rules. After taking up road work at Sri Ram Colony utilizing Rs.50 Lakh of the fund for the first another road proposal of 1.5 to 2 kilometers length from Osamia Hotel to Kothpet Road with a cost of Rs.2.5 crore got a nod from the District Collector. The proposal is presently lying with the consultancy for estimation and later will be sent for technical sanctioning,” informed Kranti Kumar, Manager Jalpally Municipality.

It is said that nearly 14,000 applications have been received under LRS scheme from both individuals and for layout category that fetch a revenue of Rs.4 crore for the Municipality that came into being only 5 years ago in the year 2016.

The 1.5 kilometer long CC Road starting from Osmania Hotel will move on through the main stretch of Ward Nos. 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 before culminating at Kothpet near Water Tank.

Jalpally municipality known as a largest slum on the outskirts of Hyderabad city comes under Maheshwaram constituency represented by Minister of Education P.Sabitha Indra Reddy. Having shared representation between MIM and TRS this municipality divided into 27 densely populated wards. More importantly, this is the municipality where the Osman Nagar area is located that came into headlines last year after the entire area flooded under the water of Burhan Khan Lake.

As most of the area known as densely populated slum habitation, no proper roads and sewerage system make it a complete picture of underprivileged area for years. The significant portion of the population especially living abutting to western part of Burhankhan Lake mainly survives on daily wages as most of the families in these areas comes under below poverty line.
