Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin Sues NASA For Picking Musk’s SpaceX For Moon Lander Project

In the latest update, the Billionaire Jeff Bezos’s space firm Blue Origin is suing NASA for picking Elon Musk-owned SpaceX for the $2.9 billion Moon lander programme.

Funding Cut From Congress Led To SpaceX Getting The Project

The US space office was relied upon to pick two moon lander models (counting one of Blue Origin’s) however subsidizing cut from US Congress drove the organization to choose SpaceX over Blue Origin.

As per a report in The Verge on Tuesday, a representative for Blue Origin called the claim “an attempt to remedy the flaws in the acquisition process found in NASA’s Human Landing System.”

“We immovably accept that the issues distinguished in this obtainment and its results should be addressed to reestablish decency, make rivalry, and guarantee a protected re-visitation of the Moon for America,” the representative was cited as saying.

The claim, recorded with the US Court of Federal Claims, could stop SpaceX’s agreement and trigger deferral to NASA’s competition to land space explorers on the Moon by 2024.
NASA said that its authorities were presently assessing the case.

“At the earliest opportunity, the organization will give a report in transit forward for getting back to the Moon as fast and as securely as conceivable under Artemis,” a NASA representative was cited as saying.

Blue Origin Stands For Fundamental Issues With NASA’s Rejection; Blue Origin Spokesperson

Last month, the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) crushed Blue Origin’s test to space organization NASA for picking SpaceX.

GAO dismissed Blue Origin’s dissent, saying “there was no prerequisite for NASA to participate in conversations, change, or drop the declaration because of the measure of financing accessible for the program”.

In a tweet, Musk reacted to the news by tweeting “GAO” with a flexing bicep emoticon.

Jeff Bezos even offered NASA a rebate of up to $2 billion to give his space organization Blue Origin the human lunar landing framework (HLS) contract.

Heightening his space battle with Musk, Bezos in an open letter to the NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said that his organization would close US space office’s close term budgetary deficit and delivering a protected and reasonable lander that will return Americans to the outside of the Moon – this opportunity to remain.

A Blue Origin representative said in a statement that they stand firm in their conviction that there were principal issues with NASA’s choice, however, the GAO couldn’t address them because of their restricted purview.”
