Jubilee Hills gang-rape Case: TRS asks Wakf Board Chairman to resign

According to reports, Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) has asked Mohammed Masiullah Khan, the chairman of Telangana State Wakf Board, to resign from the post after his son was arrested in the Jubilee Hills gangrape of a minor.

Earlier this year, Masiullah was nominated to the board by the TRS party, following which he took the duties of the post. But the sudden emergence of a rape case involving a minor girl at Jubilee Hills and the alleged involvement of his son brought him into trouble.

The opposition parties, including the BJP and the Congress Party, have been attacking the ruling TRS Government for letting his son use the chairman’s official car and want to take action against him.

According to sources, though the TRS party has asked him to relinquish his position as Chairman, he is believed to be reluctant to give up the post. The home minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, state home minister, played a crucial role in Masiullah Khan’s appointment. Masiullah’s resignation has now been requested by the TRS party. Ali is now required to ensure that Masiullah resigns.

The investigation of the police revealed that six people, including the son of wakf board  chairman, committed the heinous crime in a leased Innova car owned by the chairman.

Jubilee Hills gang rape survivor has given details of what happened on May 28. She said in her second statement that the accused had lured her into the car after she left the pub and raped her in the car. According to Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), Hyderabad City police on June 6 recorded the Jubilee Hills gang rape survivor’s statement a second time before a magistrate.
