Congress Government Falls In Minority In Puducherry

As per the latest reports, the government had submitted a letter to the Lieutenant Governor and Secretary in Charge to demand for a floor test in the assembly. This comes after John Kumar resigned from the legislature. He was the fourth person to do since last month. This further led to reducing the number of Congress-DMK alliance to only 14 numbers and an effective strength of 28.

Soon after, the opposition started to demand for the resignation of the Chief Minister V Narayanasamy. As per the latest updates, strength of the Congress in the assembly currently stands at ten along with the speaker. And the ally parties DMK have three members and an independent party also supports the government.

Reports suggest that Narayanaswamy has welcomed Bedi’s removal from the Lieutenant position. And he has further reportedly termed it as a victory of the people. At the same time, he has also denied that his government was reduced to a minority. He claimed that the BJP is carrying a campaign to lure the Congress members into their parties.

Assembly elections in Puducherry are scheduled to be conducted in May this year along with polls in neighbouring states, Tamil Nadu and Kerela.
