Lockdown -2 in Telangana Hits Hard Workers, Small Traders

Lockdown- 2 in Telangana which came into force on Tuesday and will continue for 10 days has hit hard the working class and small traders in the city and districts. With this all shops, business establishments were closed after relief for four hours from 6 am to 10 am enabling people to purchase essential commodities.

The lockdown-2 has offered an exemption to some of the emergency services, government offices with 33 percent staff, private hospitals with passes, and other offices by following curbs, and print and electronic media are allowed to work as usual.

Since many police personnel is on the job on the main roads to strictly enforce the lockdown the people were seen struggling to cope with the things and getting back after purchase. As the government directed, a strict lockdown is being imposed by the police personnel.

The sudden lockdown forced the people to rush to the grocery and other shops to buy essentials. While on the other hand, those people who came from villages found it tough to get back to the villages. The state of Telangana joined the southern states which have already been imposing the lockdown 2.0 as so many other states across the country are doing so.

Several workers were seen arguing against the sudden lockdown 2.0 decision of the government as it deprived them of food, income, and shelter. They deplored that the sudden lockdown without giving any relief and help or essential and money will only add to their problems.

Where do we live if the lockdown imposed we came from villages to the city as there was no work some deplored.

Also, some of the roadside vendors and fruit sellers sought relaxation of lockdown timings. Since the fruits are perishable items the people cannot come to purchase after 10 am they suffer loss, they expressed concern.

The lockdown decision was taken by the cabinet chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for 10 days to contain the virus spread. The chief minister stated that though he does not like to enforce lockdown 2.0 it became necessary to curb the covid-19 cases in the state.

We need to cut the chain and reduce the cases besides fatalities, he informed during the cabinet meeting. The government in its lockdown 2.0 guidelines gave exemption to various departments as per norms, agriculture, allied sectors, fertilizers, medical shops, hospitals, petrol pumps and vaccination, and vehicles for emergency services. It barred the cinema halls, function halls, pubs, and parks.

The people were seen facing the pinch of the lockdown 2.0 as it became compulsory to check the virus spread.
