Lockdown Day 1 in Karnataka witnesses chaos

Karnataka imposed a two-week lockdown across the state to curb the spread of Covid 19. Starting from today as the first day saw people agitating over the tough rules to be followed. In some instances, the police had to make a tough call until they had to give up and appeal to people to not break the lockdown rules.

Karnataka Joins Hands To Appeal Netizens To Follow Lockdown Rules

On the first day of the lockdown in Karnataka, the police had to resort to some cruel policing methods like mild canning, forcing people to do sit-ups, making people stand under the soon and so on for the violators. At the same time, some police personnel administered oath-taking for the lockdown violators.

In Yadgiri district people from ten villages gathered to celebrate the local deity’s fest and violated all the Covid 19 restrictions. The police have registered a case against the people who participated in the event.

Meanwhile, in a rare case in Davangere, a police Inspector was to the public with his teary eyes and folded hands to follow the Covid 19 guidelines. He said that they can’t keep thrashing their own people. The police are tired of Corona duty from the past one year. This is the longest duty they have ever had to be on and there is no time to rest.

Bengaluru Reports Bizarre Lockdown Cases 

While one district witnessed pleadings from the police, some other areas witnessed chaos. In some cases, the police were seen taking stricter measures to make people follow the rules which led to protests.

One such incident happened in the Koppal district. Because of the lockdown and vehicle movement ban, a 7-month-old pregnant woman had to walk around 8 km to meet her doctor check-up.

Apart from that, the police in some cases abused and seized thousands of vehicles across the state claiming that the government has banned the usage of vehicles. As per them, people are asked to go on foot only when they need to buy essentials.

Karnataka imposed a complete lockdown until May 24 to curb the spread of Covid 19 across the state.
