Lukewarm polling pattern in UP hit a last nail in BJP’s coffin

Hinting at a possible blow back to the BJP Government in Uttar Pradesh in ongoing general elections given the last five rounds of voting pattern, Shravan Garg, a renowned Hindi Journalist said, “The game of BJP has almost finished now in Uttar Pradesh. After five lukewarm polling patterns in BJP’s favour, there is nothing left behind for the saffron party to keep on floating its power vessel in the state henceforth.”

While taking part in an online debate hosted by a news channel, he said, “The card of nationalism being played by Prime Minister Modi came only after the conclusion of four phases of polling. Now they have realised that no charisma will help them stay afloat in the government in the state as merely two rounds of polling remain to see the end of the election process.”

The two areas where the next polling is scheduled, he said, are not at all influenced with Hindutva narratives as they are largely considered as neutral zones with backward class issues and polarization politics leaves no little effect over voters there unlike other areas that help the BJP in the past.

“The role of CM Yogi – a five-time former Lok Sabha MP, has finally came to an end,” asserted Garg pointing towards the lacklustre polling outcome in Ayodhya especially in Gorakhpur district that considered as a stronghold of BJP with all 8 out of 9 seats were begged by the saffron party during the general elections in 2017 that helped it alleviated to power by securing total 312 seas.

“The saffron party is in deep trouble now and there is an element of plausibility in their dilemma giving the present polling trend going completely against the party. The biggest blow the Uttar Pradesh state hands to the BJP is that the Hindutva card has lost its charm here for sure. To be honest, this card will not play anymore anywhere in the country henceforth,” he explained.

BJP put its best with this card when it played a Hijab row in Karnataka this time as a last ditch attempt to gain political mileage, however, he said, it failed miserably in yielding desired result.

Explaining that another element that played as spoil spot for the ruling BJP is the crisis in Ukraine that severally damaged the image of India as a nation, the renowned Journalist said, “This war bugle has landed India into a complex situation wherein it fails to find a way out of the crisis.”

Hinting at a possible fuel crisis after March 10, he said, “The emergency like situation is waiting to knock the government’s door in second week of March this year as inflation especially the soaring fuel prices will cast a heavy shadow over the country’s dwindling economy that won’t allow the BJP government to withstand the whiplash.”
