Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar tests positive for COVID-19, hospitalized in Mumbai Hospital

Mumbai: Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra deputy chief minister on Monday announced he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is admitted to a hospital here as a precautionary step on the guidance of doctors.

In a message, Pawar, who is moreover the state’s finance minister, said he is feeling fine.

Rajesh Tope, state health minister likewise said Pawar’s health condition is fine and he has been admitted to a hospital just for the purpose of rest.

Ajit Pawar in his message stated: “I have tested positive for Covid-19. My health condition is fine. As a precautionary measure, I have got admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on the advice of doctors.”

The NCP chief additionally said the party workers and residents need not stress over his wellbeing and that he will be back among all after a short time of rest.

The news comes days after the ex-Maharashtra chief minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) head Devendra Fadnavis tested positive for the virus.

Fadnavis on Saturday announced he had tested positive for COVID-19. The BJP head was admitted to a government-operated hospital in Mumbai and his condition is steady.

With 1,41,001 total active cases, Maharashtra keeps on being the most awful affected state by COVID-19 in the nation. While 14,60,755 patients have recouped from the virus in the state, 43,264 have passed away up until now.
