Man sentenced to 7 year imprisonment for abetting wife’s suicide

Hyderabad: A software employee Simhadri Bala Kishore, 31, of Chandanagar was convicted and sentenced to seven years imprisonment for abetting suicide of his wife Easha Pani by hanging in her bedroom on June 21, 2015. The accused was charged  under Sections 304(B) IPC and 3 & 4 DP Act. He was arrested and sent to judicial custody on June 24, 2015.

According to prosecution, the accused of Machilipatnam got married with Eesha Pani on April 22, 2015. At the time of marriage, the accused was given Rs 50 lakh cash and other household articles as a dowry on demand. After a few days, the victim informed her parents that her husband was harassing her physically and mentally by demanding additional dowry of Rs 40 to 50 lakhs for settling in America. The victim’s parents requested the accused not to harass their daughter and promised to arrange Rs 25 lakh as early as possible.

However, the accused continued to harass his wife. Due to unbearable torture, the victim hanged herself in her bedroom. The accused was tried in the XV ADJ Court Kukatpally. On Thursday, Judge P. Laxmi Sharadha convicted the accused Simhadri Bala Kishore. (NSS)
