Mangalagiri MLA held for taking out rally

Guntur: Mangalagiri YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy was arrested by the Guntur police on Monday for organizing a protest in support of three-capitals formula by defying prohibitory orders in the region.

A padayatra with a large number of people was taken out on Monday from Penumaka to the Bharat Mata statue in Tadepalli demanding decentralization and comprehensive development in the State. However, the police declined to allow the rally because of prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in force. A huge police contingent was deployed to prevent any untoward incidents. The YSRCP MLA was taken into custody and sent to the police station. The police also detained leaders and women, who had come in support of the leader in the rally. Meanwhile, demonstrations and rallies were being held across the State to support the decentralization of governance and development in the State.
