Meet Held on Protection of Children

Hyderabad: Today a co-ordination meeting was conducted with CWC (Child welfare committee) and DCPU (District Child Protection Unit ) of Ranga Reddy district to review Operation Smile and muskaan work and for better co-ordination with the departments working for the cause of children.

In this meeting Women protection cell (WPC) DCP C. Anasuya said that during Operation Muskaan-4th phase (July month) Cyberabad Police rescued 208 children, traced 6 missing children and filed 45 FIRs against the persons who were engaged children for child labour. Cyberabad Police has launched a special (Whatsapp no 7901115474) for reporting child labour. All are requested to report on persons using children below 14 years as child labour in hotels, restaurants, dhabas etc on this number. Stringent action will be taken against the offenders as using children below 14 years as labour is prohibited by law and punishable with imprisonment upto three years.

Cyberabad Police has formed Operation Smile teams in the three zones of Cyberabad which will work throughout the year to rescue children from child labour, begging, rag picking etc, runaway children and vulnerable children. In the month of July they rescued 44 children from child labour and begging. They filed 25 FIRs on the persons engaged the children for labour and begging. The operation smile team verified 75 homes in the limits of Cyberabad police commissionerates.
The participants in the co-ordination meeting were C. Anasuya, DCP (WPC) Indira, Addl. DCP (WPC), S. Sunitha Inspector and other staff of Women Protection Cell (WPC), Cyberabad, Padmavathi, Chairperson CWC and Devendra Chary, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Ranga Reddy district.(NSS)
