Megastar Chiranjeevi today urged the central government to confer the highest civilian award of the country and actor turned politician and the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh state NTR.
Taking to his official Twitter account Chiranjeevi said that NTR had popularised the self-respect of Telugu people across the world.

He also said that NTR had strived hard for the development of the weaker sections of society. He made these remarks on the occasion of the birth anniversary of NTR.
The megastar said that it would be a matter of immense pride for all the Telugu people of the world if the Bharata Ratna was conferred on NTR posthumously like it was conferred on the prominent singer of the country Bhupen Hazarika after his death.

He said that it would be even a matter of more pride if the award was conferred on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of NTR which is due after two years. He said that the conferment of the award would be a great honor for the entire Telugu community.
