Monsoon to lash Telangana, Andhra with heavy rains

Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur in all districts of Telangana during the next 48-hours and light to moderate rains or thundershowers are likely to occur at few places in Rayalaseema for next 24-hours.

The southwest monsoon continues to be active with thunderstorm and gusty winds in coastal Andhra Pradesh, a Met official statement said.

At present one upper air cyclonic circulation over the west central Bay of Bengal adjoining the north-west Bay of Bengal which extends from 2.1 Kms to 4.5 Kms and under its influence a low-pressure area may develop during next 48 hours in the north bay of Bengal. So automatically the monsoon rains will increase due to this low-pressure area.

Heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in the districts of Krishna, Guntur and Vizianagaram of coastal Andhra Pradesh and in the districts of Bhuvanagiri, Mancherial, Adilabad Jogulamba Gadwal and Kamareddy of Telangana during the last 24-hours.
