In a new development of the Covid 19 situation, there’s been a little ray of hope recently. A Covid19 positive mother with a rare immune system disorder recently delivered a healthy baby girl.
Mother with ITP and Covid 19 Delivers Healthy Baby
The news comes from The King George’s Medical University. The 35 year old mother, Deepika Tiwari suffers from Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). In this the patients immune system destroys the platelets which further results in internal bleeding or from the skin.

However, the management at the KGMU helped both the mother and child safe. The baby was delivered via C-section surgery. The doctors at the university said that both the mother and the baby are safe and healthy. They have already been discharged.
Shailendra Tiwari, Deepika’s husband said that tears rolled down from his eyes when the doctors informed them that both the mother and the baby are stable.
KGMU Gynaecology Department Celebrates the Feat
Following this, the KGMU gynecology department transfused four units of platelets and Intravenous immunoglobulin 80GM of approximately Rs 3 lakh was given for free.
KGMU vice-chancellor Lt-Gen Bipin Puri has congratulated the team members of the gynecology department.
