New master plan for Hyderabad in works: KTR

KT Rama Rao, the State IT minister, informed that the government plans to unveil a new master plan for the City of Hyderabad and a master plan for all 141 municipalities and corporations by next year’s March 31.

Specifically, he said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed work on master plans for the city, in light of G.O. 111 being revoked. He further announced that an internally reputable agency will be hired to create a master plan.

The City hosted the 11th edition of the CREDAI Hyderabad property show inaugurated by KTR. KTR said that by December, 100 per cent of the sewage generated in the city will be treated.

Furthermore, he explained that Hyderabad generates around 200 MLD of sewage and that to ensure 100 per cent treatment the government will set up sewage treatment plants at a cost of Rs 3,666 crore. CREDAI Hyderabad and allied bodies should partner with the government in establishing a specialized institute to train a skilled workforce in Telangana, he said.

There are many workers from other states working at different construction sites around Hyderabad, but Telangana workers are hard hit in middle-eastern countries, and they rarely earn decent wages, he included.

CREDAI bodies should partner with the government to set up a special training institute for workers, he said.

In addition to training, they should also be assured of employment. Construction of industries will take place in Hyderabad over the next 10 to 15 years, KTR said, and many international companies are setting up bases in Hyderabad.

These investments will generate employment, as well as more housing demand, he said. Builders and developers should look beyond the west zone and explore more opportunities in other areas. Data Centers were being built by Amazon and Microsoft in Chandanvelli and elsewhere.

Genome Valley is located at Shamirpet, and Sultanpur Industrial Park is full. More land is being acquired in the surrounding areas. Additionally, Pharma City would be launched very soon, he said. He recommended that developers and builders explore new areas and desist from using conventional modes when launching new projects in the west zone.

In particular, the IT Minister urged builders and developers to self-regulate and force the government to impose restrictions on FSI. Regarding the opposition parties’ complaints about the government lifting G.O. 111, KTR reminded that even Congress and BJP leaders had promised to lift the order.
