NewSpace India Pvt Ltd Gets Four Satellite Launch Orders; Marks 2nd Anniversary

Indian State-run firm named NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL) has bagged the orders to launch four foreign satellites from earth in Andhra Pradesh.

Officials Confirm Foreign Satellite Orders

NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL) is the commercial arms of the state-run space department. It has received the orders to launch four satellites from the Sriharikota spaceport. G. Narayanan NSIL Chairman confirmed the news. He said that they have signed contracts with four foreign customers who want their satellites to be launched to the lower orbit. The rockets to be launched are the PSLV and SSLV of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

State-run NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL), the commercial arm of the space department, bagged orders to launch four foreign satellites for earth observation from Sriharikota spaceport in Andhra Pradesh, a top official said on Friday.

The officials however did not disclose the names of the customers or any other details because of the non-disclosure agreements. Following this, Narayan also said that out of the four satellites, three will be launched by the ISRO’s polar satellite launch vehicle and the other one with the SSLV.

 

NSIL Also Launched Brazil’s Earth Observation Satellite

 

This is not the first time when NSIL has received foreign orders,. Earlier this year, they also launched Brazil’s earth observation satellites named Amazonia-1 on February 28, 2021. They launched the satellite from ISRO’s PSLV-C51 amongst the 18 other satellites which were also launched.

Apart from this, NSIL is also planning to launch two communication satellites for DTH services and telecom operators. Marking two years of the company, Narayan said that they will be hiring 300 more people and step up their operations as they get ready to launch more satellites and rockets.
