NGOs raised eyebrows over no action against corrupt staff, officials at Wakf Board

Despite the reports emerged in the section of media about the alleged malfeasance on the part of staff and officials from Telangana State Wakf Board (TSWB), no measures so far has been taken by the managing committee and this has actually raised many eyebrows especially in the circle of NGOs keeping an eye over the board’s affairs.

Leave alone the managing committee, the bosses at the helm of affairs in the corridor or powers such as Wakf Minister, Principal Secretary and Minority Welfare Department as well as the CEO and the Chairman all are said to have been playing a role of mute spectators while Board is bearing irreparable losses by way losing properties one after another.

It is said that several staff members and officials in the Board were allegedly caught red handed while accepting bribe and others are keeping the trend continue, while a list of black ships working in the board were already placed before the higher officials, no measures were taken to check the irregularities being prevalent in the institution and causing heavy damage to the board.

Though the concerned Principal Secretary shared the list of black ships working in the wakf board two years back with the former vigilance officer, who is presently serving as CEO in the Board, no action has been initiated against the staff and officials involved in irregularities.

It is against this background, the City based NGO called Muslim United Federation has placed a demand before the government of Telangana, the Wakf Minister Koppala Eshwar, Principal Secretary Ahmed Nadeem and the Chairman Wakf Board to initiate action against the   corrupt staff members and the officials.

They also urged that the temporary employees in the board should immediately be removed and measures should be taken to appoint new permanent staff lest the Federation will be compelled to hold a protest at Board premises.
