“No compromise on Mumbai’s safety”- FIR filed against Bollywood actor for violating covid norms

While Maharashtra covid-19 rates are witnessing a sudden surge in the last couple of days, the state government announced repercussions of a strict lockdown if the norms are followed religiously. As such, the municipal corporation of its capital, Mumbai, today stated that it has lodged a case against a Bollywood actor for violating the coronavirus guidelines despite testing positive for the infection.

The FIR posted by the department on Twitter did not disclose the name of the actor though it is speculated to be Gauhar Khan. The copy of the First Information Report mentions “No Compromise On City’s Safety” as the caption.

The civic body of the state with the highest number of covid-19 cases in the country said in its notice that the actor roamed around in public places and participated in shootings, etc., even after being infected with the virus. The actor has now been quarantined.

This body also works on the instructions and orders of the Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray who had recently warned the citizens for taking the protocols lightly.

On Saturday, the CM said, “Do not force us to impose a strict lockdown. Consider this as the last warning. Follow all the rules. Everyone has to realize there is a difference between self-discipline and restrictions.”

The current figures of the covid-19 disease in the state stands with 23,14,413 total case and 52,861 deaths. Today, Maharashtra registered 16,620 new cases while 50 died. In a bid to control the growing effect of the virus, many districts including Pune and Hingoli are under a partial lockdown as night curfew has been imposed here. The state recorded over 15,000 cases in the last 2 days and passed the 16,000 figure on Sunday.

As for the recovery rates, the state is at 92.21 per cent and the death rate is 2.28 per cent. The total number of active cases are 1,26,231, according to the municipal corporation’s statistics. It added that 5,83,713 people are under home quarantine while 5,493 are admitted in quarantine centres.

India reported the highest number of cases in nearly 3 months today as it registered 26,291 new infections.
