No scissors at inauguration ceremony irks KCR; CM pulls off ribbon with hand

With reporters and people surrounding the Chief Minister awaiting the ribbon-cutting ceremony in a video, the inauguration event left KCR visibly irked after there were no scissors in sight to execute the task he was present for.

Telangana Chief Minister and the chief guest of the event, K Chandrashekar Rao, waited for about 15-20 seconds before pulling the ribbon off with his hand as the management failed to arrange for a pair of scissors to cut it.

The video showing the CM losing his cool to quickly pull out the ribbon has been widely shared on social media. People have taken sides as some are blaming on improper planning while others are calling out the patience level of KCR.

In the 20-seconds video shared on Twitter by news agency ANI, the chief minister can be seen around many people at the inauguration of community houses in Mandepalli village of Rajanna Sircilla district while others keep looking for scissors.

15 seconds into the video, KCR hastily pulls off the ribbon and makes way for people to enter the premises.

Telangana’s IT Minister and the CM’s son, KTR was also present at the ceremony. In a video shared by the local MLA, he can be seen completing the rest of the rituals at the door of the society. Right after this, the scissors blunder took place.

The mismanagement took place on Sunday in the housing community named ‘KCR Nagar’ constructed at a cost of Rs 80 crore. The apartments consist of more than 1300 flats, spacious enough to accommodate 5000 people.

Apart from the housing community, Mr Rao was present at multiple inauguration ceremonies in the district on Sunday. One of them was an international driving school that has world-class tracks to train 5000 unemployed youth under the supervision of 30 expert trainers and many other facilities.

Though most of the people seen in the video were wearing masks, including Mr Rao, as a precaution against covid-19, social distancing had gone for a toss. Everyone was standing close to each other with no sign of the 6-feet distance being maintained.
