Officials Asked to Speed up Haritha Haram works

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary SK Joshi today directed officials concerned to work with commitment for plantation drive under Haritha Haram and urban forestry program as that rejuvenates nature with greenery.

He was chairing a steering committee meeting on fifth phase of Haritha Haram at Secretariat here. As per directive of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao,  the officials have to work for developing greenery. Set up one nursery each in village panchayat to ensure green expansion to provide pollution-free environment to present and coming generations. ‘We plan to plant one crore saplings and priority be given to houses to plant shade and fruit plants while the forest wing has to take care of plantation on the highways. Nurseries have to be set up in towns and divisions and wards and protect them with special care by keeping rainy season in view’, he said. Since only 2206 villages out of 12751 village panchayats have nurseries,  the officials should take steps to set up the same in the rest of the panchayats. Speed up the works for urban forestry program and avoid delay in the name of tenders and permissions, as directed by the chief minister,  he added.(NSS)
