Omicron May Infect People Who Already Have Been Infected With Covid Before

As per the latest reports, a group of researchers in South Africa said they have found some proof that individuals who had been tainted once with Covid were bound to be reinfected with the Omicron variation than with the Beta or Delta variations.

Omicron Variant: Too Early To Know

The research team said it is too early to know without a doubt, however a new spike in second contaminations demonstrates to them that Omicron is bound to reinfect individuals.

“In opposition to our assumptions and involvement in the past variations, we are currently encountering an increment in the danger of reinfection that surpasses our related knowledge,” Juliet Pulliam from Stellenbosch University was cited as saying.

Omicron was just recognized in November yet has stressed the World Health Organization (WHO) and other worldwide wellbeing authorities, who have assigned it a variation of concern on account of its numerous changes influencing regions related with contagiousness and capacity to dodge the invulnerable framework.

South Africa Mirrors Spread Of Omicron, Not Fading Immunity

Pulliam and her partners took a gander at reports of diseases covering 2.7 million individuals in South Africa since the start of the pandemic, including in excess of 35,000 individuals determined at least a few times to have Covid-19.

“We recognized 35,670 people with no less than two presumed infection (through 27 November 2021), 332 people with suspected third diseases, and one person with four speculated diseases,” they wrote in their report.

“Among the people who have had more than one reinfection, 47 (14.2 percent) encountered their third infection in November 2021, which recommends that numerous third diseases are related with transmission of the Omicron variation,” they added.

They are expecting the new increase in cases in South Africa mirrors the spread of Omicron and not some other element like fading immunity.

Individuals whose cases they portray have not had the infection sequenced, so it isn’t sure they were, truth be told, tainted with the Omicron variation.
