The WAFA report additionally said that Abbas advised Erdogan over the latest political advancements in the district and the weight that the United States is applying on a few Arab nations to standardize relations with Israel.

Abbas said it is important to face such weight and urge the Arab states to keep the Arab Peace Initiative made in 2002.

On 3rd of September, Abbas led a gathering held online attended by leaders of 14 Palestinian groups, who all coincided on an arrangement of solidarity to confront the current political difficulties.

The Palestinians held the last presidential elections in 2005 when Abbas succeeded late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. In 2006, Hamas won the parliamentary elections held in the Palestinian regions.
