Passenger drone to be tested by IIT-Hyderabad in a week

IIT-Hyderabad is going to test the first passenger drone in a week to make autonomous passenger vehicles a reality in India. Speaking to media person Prof BS Murty at IIT-H’s Kandi campus on Friday and he said that the team of faculty and students had been working on the project for a long time.

In a week, IIT-H plans to test the drone at its campus since its work is nearing completion. Under the National Mission for Cyber-Physical Systems, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) gave IIT-H a project on autonomous vehicles.

At first, the Director stated that passenger drones would be used in small areas such as educational campuses and companies. Especially when areas like the North Eastern area experience landslides, the passenger drone vehicles will be of great use since they can be used for rescue operations. According to the Director, the DST is encouraging institutes like IIT-H to develop autonomous aerial, water, and road vehicles as part of the Indian Government’s commitment to making India self-sufficient in Science and Technology.

Svamitva program uses drones to map all land parcels in Secunderabad Cantonment Board

Using drones, every parcel of land within Secunderabad Cantonment Board’s jurisdiction will soon be mapped. Svamitva, the panchayat raj ministry’s drone survey initiative, is expected to begin in the next month.

In the Cantonment Board meeting held, SCB chief executive officer B Ajith Reddy proposed drone mapping of land parcels. SCB president Brig K Somashankar, who chaired the meeting, and nominated member J Rama Krishna approved the proposal and passed a resolution unanimously.

CEO Ajith Reddy explained that the ‘Svamitva’ program aims to establish clear ownership of property in inhabited areas by mapping land parcels using drones and providing ‘Records of Rights’ to each household with legal ownership cards.
