Pensions doubled, but BJP makes false charges: Koppula

Hyderabad: Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar today criticized the BJP for resorting to make false charges against the TRS Government.

Participating in a program in Jagtial today, the minister said the BJP was indulging in falsehood and taking up misinformation campaign against the State government. The Centre, apart from not giving financial assistance to the State, the BJP was falsely blaming the TRS regime, he charged. The Centre gives less and makes tall claims, the minister alleged.

The minister also said the Telangana government was spending Rs 40,000 crore towards welfare programs. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has doubled the pensions to the poor, who are now able to lead respectable lives. The pension amount for Asara pensioners was doubled from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,016 and from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,016 for disabled persons in the State, he said. The government has also taken a decision to reduce pension age limit to 57 years which will extend the facility to about10 lakh people more in the  State, the minister claimed. The BJP should stop blaming the TRS for political mileage, he warned.  (NSS)
