PFI raids: NIA conducts searches in AP, Telangana, 4 detained

As part of a day-long operation against the Popular Front of India (PFI) in the two Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained four PFI members and seized Rs. 8 lakhs in cash and other “incriminating documents” from suspects.

A case against PFI members was registered at Nizamabad town Police Station in Telangana on July 4 this year, according to official sources.

Reports further said that the state police investigated the case and identified four suspects: Abdul Kader, Sheikh Sahadulla, Mohammed Imran, and Mohammed and Abdul Mobin. Their arrests were carried out by Telangana Police. The case was later re-registered on August 26 by the NIA.

Officials from the NIA claim that the accused from PFI were organizing camps for promoting enmity between different religious groups and for imparting training to commit terrorist acts.

Moreover, they formed an unlawful assembly and promoted enmity between groups based on religion. Additionally, they were involved in activities disrupting India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to the NIA.

The NIA conducted searches on Sunday morning against PFI members in 38 Telangana locations (23 in Nizamabad, 4 in Hyderabad, 7 in Jagityal, 2 in Nirmal, and 1 each in Adilabad and Karimnagar and two locations in Andhra Pradesh (1 each in Kurnool and Nellore Districts) in the case relating to Abdul Khader of Nizamabad District Telangana and 26 other persons.

As per the reports, the NIA searched PFI places and found incriminating materials, including digital devices, documents, two daggers, and Rs.8,31,500./- in cash. have been seized, the agency said. Further investigation is being conducted, according to agency officials.

According to reports, police in Nizamabad arrested four PFI activists on July 6 for allegedly training Muslim young men in anti-national activities.
