PM Modi Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Birth Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, emphasizing that Gandhi’s enduring principles still guide us.

The nation observed the birthdays of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on October 2, both iconic figures in India’s history.

Modi arrived at Rajghat at 8 am, where he offered floral tributes at the Mahatma’s memorial and bowed in reverence. Alongside him, several Union ministers and bureaucrats also paid their respects at Rajghat, located on the banks of the Yamuna River. Additionally, Modi visited Vijay Ghat memorial to honor Lal Bahadur Shastri.

This day marks the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, widely known as the Father of the Nation. Gandhi led India to independence through the philosophy of non-violence and remains a globally revered figure. An interfaith prayer service took place at Rajghat, featuring Gandhi’s favorite devotional songs.

In a message shared on X, Prime Minister Modi stated, “I pay my respects to Mahatma Gandhi on the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. His timeless teachings continue to illuminate our path. Mahatma Gandhi’s influence extends globally, inspiring people worldwide to uphold the values of unity and compassion. Let us continually strive to realize his aspirations. May his ideas empower every young individual to become the change agent he envisioned, fostering unity and harmony everywhere.”
