Police bust gang of drug peddlers in Hyderabad’s old city

Four drug smugglers were taken into custody by officials of the Commissioner’s Task Force in the West Zone on Friday.

It was reported that the police had recovered brown sugar (heroin) and ganja from the accused worth Rs 23 lakhs.

During a press conference, Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand revealed that Chand Shahjada Sayyed hails from Mumbai. During the year 2010, he was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai on drug charges.

He, along with other accused Shaik Abdul Alam Quadri aka Rashad from Bahadurpura, Shaik Khasim @ Chinna Khasim from Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, and Shahed Kamal from Bandlaguda are associated with procuring and selling narcotic substances.

Mumbai native Mahesh aka Rayees, the kingpin of heroin and brown sugar supply, is still at large.

CV Anand said Shaik Abdul Alam Quadri, who lives in Bahadurpura, was earlier arrested for carrying UAE currency by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

Shaik Khasim was arrested in 2018 for possessing ganja.

The accused purchased drugs from V Ramesh in Vizag, AP, and transported them by train to Hyderabad. Each kilogram of drugs costed Rs 8000.

In Mumbai, Chand Shahjada Sayeed traded ganja with brown sugar (heroin).

In the Kalapathar area of Old City, the West Zone Task Force team apprehended all the accused persons. As well as the seized material, the accused are being handed over to the police.

In a similar case, the Rachakonda Police Special Operations Team and Malkajgiri Police arrested six people for operating a drug peddling ring between Delhi and Andhra Pradesh. They confiscated 52 kg of marijuana and 1 litre of hashish oil from them.

In Chintapalli and Paderu, one of the accused bought marijuana at a lower price and smuggled it to Delhi with the help of hired agents.
