From April 25 to May 31, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be holding summer coaching camps. In addition, the civic body is working to restore swimming pools, grounds, and indoor and outdoor stadiums which had not been used for about two years in preparation for the summer camps.
Their work involves repairing and replacing damaged equipment at sports complexes and swimming pools. Officials from the GHMC have been continuously working on repairing all swimming pools within the city limits for the past two weeks. Still, the majority of pools have not yet been repaired.
The summer camps were originally slated to begin in the first week of this month but were postponed to April 25 due to unfinished repair work. There are more than seven swimming pools within the city limits of GHMC. They are available for use during the summer coaching camps.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the camps have been cancelled for two years. Due to this, authorities neglected the maintenance of pools, resulting in damaged motors and pipes; many had to be replaced.
According to an official with GHMC Sports, work on swimming pools had been going on for the past two weeks. According to him, Rs 2 crore has been allocated for the provision of equipment in summer coaching camps.
The tender for the supply of sports equipment has been announced. It is expected that Rs 2 crore in sports equipment will be procured from the selected agency, according to a member of the engineering department.
The summer camps in various sports disciplines will take place from April 25 to May 31 at playgrounds, sports complexes and camps for the 6-16 age group. Sport wing has decided to arrange for a full training program for children in the trendiest 30 sports activities that are high in demand.

Training will take place from 6 am to 8:30 am and from 4 to 7 pm. The fee for those who wish to attend the camps will be announced in the near future. Those interested in attending should register online. All coaching camps will include special kits.
GHMC Mayor, Deputy Mayor and corporators will inaugurate the camps at various GHMC grounds and stadiums.
