Protect Nature for Environment: Indrakaran Says

Telangana Forest and Environment Minister, Indrakaran Reddy today stressed the need for protecting nature for a Better Environment.

In a virtual meeting with Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) and environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) and other officials on World Environment Day, the Minister remarked that a pollution-free environment is the need of the hour.

This time our theme is “expect, create and restore nature” he said adding that the government of Telangana is moving ahead on it. If we protect nature and the system it will protect us he said. Our government gives top priority to greenery awareness and expansion for the clean environment he maintained.

He attributed the green cover expansion to the vision of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The KCR government has started several programs for the purpose including Haritha Haram and others.

We develop natural parks, nurseries, green drive, haritha haram of plantation for environmental protection. We the people have an inseparable bond with nature and the environment he said. Collectively we can build a new state of ecological footprint, biodiversity, pure air, water, and encouragement he said.

The Minister said that the youth and students should join hands in the green drive for a clean environment.  On world environment day the minister appealed that the people and the officials can together fight pollution for a green and clean environment. It is the time for greenery and a pollution-free environment and youth and students have to play an active role for a better future,  he said. As part of this program, our Government has completed irrigation projects and developed lakes for rural development. The Minister said, Government of Telangana flagship Kaleshwaram project has increased the agricultural sector growth, ground water recharge and advocated all be a part of restoring the Ecosystem.

The minister said that the government is committed to the protection of the environment through green drive by people support. Our efforts gave good results to increase green cover he claimed.

Adhar Sinha, Special Chief Secretary to GoTS, and Director General, EPTRI highlighted the importance of ecological restoration and the role of EPTRI towards restoring the environment in terms of water, solid waste, biodiversity.

Neetu Prasad,  Member Secretary, TSPCB has emphasized the need for Ecosystem restoration, the importance of maintaining the ecological balance.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Rajat Kumar,  Special Chief Secretary to Government of Telangana, I&CAD department, Environment, Science & Technology department has highlighted on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). He also highlighted the projects of Kaleshwaram, Haritha Haram, and progress made by Telangana State Govt.

The virtual meeting was attended by officials of TSPCB, NITHM, ASCI, ISB, MA&UD, Professors from various Universities, and about 300 students.
