Puducherry Announces Night Curfew Amidst Higher Fatality Rate Than National Average

As the coronavirus cases continue to rise across the nation, the Union Territory of Puducherry has decided to impose a night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am from Tuesday.

Puducherry Records Higher Recovery Rate Than National Average 

As per the latest reports, the Union Territory of Puducherry has directed all the hotels to shut their doors by 8 pm and only parcel services will be allowed after the time period. The beach road at Puducherry will remain shut after 5 pm.

However, the fatality rate in the Union Territory has touched 1.5 percent on Monday which is above the national average of 1.2 percent. At the same time, the recovery rate is 88.8 percent which is also above the national average of 86 percent.

As of Monday, Puducherry recorded 565 fresh cases and the total number of active cases was pushed to 4692. Out of these 3849 are under home isolation and treatment. Data states that 365 people have already recovered from Covid 19 on Monday.

So far the maximum number of deaths recorded within the Puducherry headquarters is 572 fatalities. Out of these Karakkal recorded 84 deaths, Yaman at 45 deaths and Mahe at 12 deaths.

More Than Half Of Puducherry Population Took Covid 19 Test 

As per the reports, the Health Department sent 7.33 lakh swab samples for Coronavirus testing. Out of these 6.66 lakh samples turned out to be negative. Reports suggest that more than half of the population underwent Covid 19 testing. Union Territory of Puducherry has a population of 14 lakh people.

A press release from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare said that so far Covid 19 vaccines have been administered to 30,202 healthcare workers, 17961 frontline workers, and 1,08 lakh other people. A total of 1.55 lakh people have been vaccinated.
