Greater Noida: High dramatization prevailed on Thursday after Uttar Pradesh Police staff pushed past Congress President Rahul Gandhi on the ground close to the Yamuna Expressway and detained him alongside his sister and party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, while they were marching towards Hathras to meet the family member of the victim of rape, party heads declared.
Gandhi, alongside his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other senior heads, had left Delhi on Thursday to meet the family members of the Hathras rape victim.
Yet, they started walking towards Hathras after their vehicle was halted close to the Yamuna Expressway.
Just now police pushed me, lathi-charged me and threw me on the ground. I want to ask, can only (Narendra) Modiji walk in this country? Can’t a normal person walk? Our vehicle was stopped, so we started walking: Rahul Gandhi told the media later.
Ranvijay Singh, Additional DCP, Gautam Budh Nagar, revealed to IANS that Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi have been detained.
Singh further said that Rahul and Priyanka won’t be permitted to continue further as the police have a letter from DM Hathras saying that on the off chance that they visit the town, it might upset the law and order condition in the area.
Furthermore, there is the issue of giving security cover to them.

Uttar Pradesh Police Personnel moreover disclosed to Gandhi that his sister and he have been arrested as they were walking in a territory where area 144 has been forced.
The section identifies with the assembly of not over five individuals at one spot.
Rahul Gandhi said that regardless of whether Section 144 had been forced, he will walk alone towards Hathras to meet the family members of the rape victim.
The Congress chiefs guaranteed that the police had taken Rahul and Priyanka into custody and taken them to the Budh International Circuit guest house.
Prior to being detained, the Congress chiefs had a heated exchange of words with police staff and enquired about the grounds on which they were being taken into custody.
Rahul Gandhi, alongside Priyanka, Rajiv Shukla, Randeep Singh Surjewala and a few other top heads were marching towards Hathras to meet the family members of the casualties a day after the last rites of the victim of rap were allegedly conducted during the night without any of her family members present there.
