Rahul does not know about agriculture: Pocharam

Hyderabad : Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy today criticised the AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi saying he does not know about agriculture and farmers woes.  He was interacting with Nandipet TRS party leaders and activists here along with former speaker Suresh Reddy and others. He slammed the comments of Rahul Gandhi against the TRS and rythu bandhu scheme. Srinivas Reddy asked why the congress ruled states are not providing 24 hour power to farm sector and crop investment as is being done in the Telangana State. Rahul’s comments are sheer meaningless, he said. He claimed that the TRS Government has done significant development in four and half years that was not done by the previous Congress and Telugu Desam regimes. Reddy asked the leaders to take up the welfare and development programs to every house hold. Together conduct the campaign and ensure that the ruling party wins mandate in the elections, he said.

The ruling party offers Rs 8000 per acre towards crop investment and has plans to offer Rs.10000,  he said adding that KCR has   set a target to irrigate eight lakh of acres in the previous Nizamabad district. The TRS Boss wanted to help the farmers live with self respect and came up with Rythu Bandhu scheme providing Rs 8000 per acre across the state. Telangana is the  only  state in the country giving 24 hours power to farm sector,  he claimed. Nandipet which used to get Nizamsagar waters is now relying on wells and bore wells. As many as 50 lakhs of acres being irrigated through 23 lakhs of bore wells in the state,  he added. Armur MLA candidate Jivan Reddy and others were  present.(NSS)
