Congress Accuses Narendra Modi Government Of Compromising National Security

Congress on Sunday accused the Central government of “surrendering” the nation’s strategic interests to China and compromising on National security. They claimed that the reports suggest that China has refused to take its troops off the areas of Hot Springs, Gogra, and Depsang.

General secretary Ajay Maken asked in a statement to the Modi government regarding their plans to maintain the status quo as discussed in April 2020. He said that after the failed military talks with China, their territorial integrity has been compromised. And he demanded to know the plans that the government has to ensure that their territory is taken back from China.

Maken further said that the Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh had told the parliament on February 13 that the friction points between India and China including the discussions about Depsang Plains would be taken up in the next round of military talks. However, China has gone to their assurances and has said (reportedly) that India should be happy with what they have achieved.

“This is nothing, but an attack on India’s territorial integrity,” said Maken.

The last military talks were disrupted by the violent clashes between the violent clashes in the Pangong lake areas. Gradually, both nations increased their military deployment in the areas. After a series of diplomatic talks, both the militaries agreed to completely withdraw their troops and weapons from the North and South Banks of Pangong lake in February.

However, the issues regarding the Depsang, Hot Springs, and Gogra remain unsolved and are essential for both nations.
