Railway Protection Force Rescues Children and Apprehends Traffickers in Hyderabad’s Anti-Trafficking Operation

In order to prevent human trafficking, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted raids on trains in Secunderabad Division, Hyderabad, in partnership with several organisations such as BachpanBachaoAndolan, GRP, CWC, and DCPU. The Action Against Human Trafficking (AAHT) operation resulted in the rescue of six children from the clutches of traffickers.

Five traffickers were detained aboard a summer special train departing from Bihar and Jharkhand based on information and data analysis. The RPF accompanied Train No. 07052 Secunderabad Special Fare Summer Express from Sirpur Kaghaznagar to Secunderabad station throughout its voyage within the jurisdiction of the Secunderabad Division. Targeted raids were carried out throughout this operation to uncover traffickers by focusing on suspected coaches.

Debashmita C Banerjee, Secunderabad Division Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, emphasised the RPF’s installation of a dedicated helpline (139) for the public to report suspected incidences of trafficking. Under Operation AAHT, the RPF’s actions in 2022 resulted in the rescue of 23 children and the arrest of six traffickers. So far in 2023, a total of 185 children have been rescued, with 89 traffickers apprehended in Secunderabad Division.
