Raja Singh’s lawyer approaches the Chief Justice, asks for security

In connection with the infamous cases in which Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh made derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad, Singh’s lawyer K Karuna Sagar approached the chief justice of Telangana High Court asking for security for the MLA.

The advocate K Karuna Sagar, who lives in Champapet in Hyderabad, submitted a petition to the chief justice of the High Court stating, “I anticipate severe threats to my life since I am getting repeated threats to kill me for representing MLA Raja Singh in a hate speech case in PS Manglahat, Hyderabad.”

In the past, I have represented MLA Raja Singh and been instrumental in obtaining his acquittal in several court cases. Recently, I represented him and argued his case on 23.08.2022, resulting in the rejection of the remand in the alleged hate speech case of PS Mangalhat on the file of learned 14 Addl CMM. A case in crime no. 421/2022 was registered and another complaint is yet to be filed with the Saidabad Police following a number of death threats against me for defending MLA Raja Singh,’ he said.

Moreover, he noted that “on 26 August, an unknown person attempted to intimidate me in the High Court premises, and I filed a complaint against the incident with SHO Charminar PS, and no case has yet been registered against the individual. Besides threat calls, the police have issued about 10 FIRs in response to my complaints of threats to kill me made by unknown persons since 2012, and two persons have been arrested and charge sheets have been filed against them and trials are underway.” To be given security, he requested the High Court to pass appropriate orders.
