Revanth Reddy Takes Part in International Women’s Day Celebrations

TPCC chief and the party MP A. Revanth Reddy today took in the International women’s day celebrations held at Gandhi Bhavan. The Mahila Morcha of the party organized the event on the occasion of International women’s day.

 Speaking on the occasion, Revanth said that the Congress party had given a lot of importance to the women of the country. He reminded that the party had made Indira Gandhi as the first prime minister of the country and Pratibha Patil the first women president of the country. He also said that the party had made a Dalit woman leader of the party Meira Kumar as the Lok Sabha speaker. He also said that the party had not only provided reservations to the women in local bodies but also encouraged them to do active politics. He said that the party had provided interest-free loans and created self-employment opportunities for all the women of the country. He made it clear that the Congress party was a pro-women party and conveyed his heartfelt wishes to all the women of the state on the occasion of International women’s day. He said that none could forget the importance of women in social development.

He said that three women played an important role in the formation of the Telangana state and added that the names of the three women were Sonia Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj, and Meira Kumar. He said that the Congress party had given six cabinet ministers’ posts to the women during its rule in the undivided Andhra Pradesh state.

He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had diluted the efforts made by Sonia Gandhi to introduce a bill to provide reservations to the women in law-making bodies like state legislature and parliament. He promises that they would provide the reservations to the women in the law-making bodies within six months of coming into power. He also promised to make four women leaders of the party as the state cabinet ministers after coming into power in Telangana.
