RTC strike enters 51st day with protests continue at bus depots

Hyderabad: The indefinite strike by over 48,000 RTC employees entered 51st day today with women workers staged dharna at the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station on Sunday. The striking employees all over the State continued their protests in support of their demands while thousands of people were seen stranded at bus stations and stops across the State.

Thanking the TSRTC workers for continuing the strike unabatedly, RTC  employees’ unions’ JAC convener K Ashwathama Reddy said the RTC workers would stage protests with “Save RTC” placards at all bus depots and bus stages in the State on Monday. Demanding that the State government allow the employees to resume their duties unconditionally, Ashwathama Reddy said the Chief Minister’s silence was atrocious and anti-working class.

On the other hand, it was speculated that the Chief Minister might review the situation and ask the RTC management to issue a notification in a day or two on the privatization of 5,100 RTC routes as the High Court gave a green signal.   (NSS)
