San Franciso Eases Facemask Mandate For Indoor Settings With Safety Guidelines; Covid 19 Cases Drop

In the latest announcement, the San Francisco Mayor London Breed announced that they will be lifting some of the Covid 19 restrictions indoors. This means from October 15 under limited settings (indoors) masks will not be required. However, this may only stay if the number of cases Covid 19 cases and hospitalisations remain stable or decline.

Gathering Shouldn’t Exceed More Than 100 People

As per the updates, the new relaxation includes places where the people are fully vaccinated can gather and other safety measures are being following. These areas include offices, gyms, fitness centres, religious gatherings, indoor college classes and employee commuter vehicles. However, these settings should not exceed more than 100 people.

People in these settings may choose to remove their masks if the employer or the host of the gathering can control the access and verify that there are not more than 100 people in that area and the people are fully vaccinated.

Furthermore, the host or the employer must ensure that there is proper ventilation and there have been no recent Covid 19 outbreaks. Children below the age of 12 years old are not amongst the people at the venue.

Breed said that in the announcement that they are excited that they are at a place where they can ease the mask requirements. This is a direct result of the fact that they have one of the highest vaccination rates in the country. The cases have fallen and the residents have done their part to keep themselves and everyone around them safe.

She added that the economy is bouncing back and the city feels alive again.

“This is yet another milestone in our recovery,” she added.

San Francisco Has 7.4% Fully Vaccinated Individuals Per 100,000

As per the latest reports, San Francisco along with eight other Bay Area jurisdictions released a criteria for lifting the indoor face mask mandate for a lot of settings. This comes after the state saw a sustained lower number of Covid 19 cases and hospitalisations over a period of time. And when a majority of the population is fully vaccinated including the children.

San Francisco has a current weekly average case rate of 77 cases per 100,000, a drop from 309 at the height of the summer’s surge.Cases among fully vaccinated individuals are currently at 7.4 per 100,000, while among those not fully vaccinated are 14.4 per 100,000.
