Hyderabad: A sarpanch candidate supported by the Congress from Kodangal district was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified miscreants. The sensational incident occurred in the undivided Mahbubnagar.
According to his family members, Viswanath of Nittooru village Viswanath was kidnapped by the miscreants on Tuesday night. He was picked up at 2 am in the middle of the night. It is widely speculated that the kidnap was made to prevent him from filing his nomination papers.
The local police have taken up investigation. The victim acted as incharge of the constituency for former MLA A. Revanth Reddy. The Congress party has taken the panchayat elections seriously and leaving no stone unturned to capture all the sarpanch posts in the constituency.(NSS)
