Secunderabad Army Public School introduces ‘No Bag Day’

Army Public School in RK Puram, Secunderabad has started a ‘No Bag Day’ initiative to reduce the pressure on schoolchildren who carry heavy bags to classes. In collaboration with Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry, the unique concept is introduced to students in classes I to V.

There will be no bag day every Saturday, where students will come to school without bags. A wide array of hands-on activities will motivate the students while providing a break from the routine.

During the first ‘No Bag Day,’ students were given a variety of fun-filled activities based on their age and class. As part of the Fun with English activities, the students in grades I to V made thumb paints, paper masks, dramatized Panchatantra characters, made puppets, made 2D/3D models using geometrical shapes, and participated in Hasya Kavita Sammelan activities.

Through activities such as hemming, straight stitching, and button fixing, students were taught life skills. As part of happiness therapy, motion and movement with rhythm were introduced.
