Secunderabad fire: Ruby Hotel, Gemopal Electrical Scooters owners booked

A case has been booked against the owners of Ruby Hotel and Gemopal Electrical Scooters over the fatal fire accident that occurred at a Secunderabad hotel on Monday night.

A case has been filed under Sections 304 (II) and 337 of the Indian Penal Code against hotel owner Sumith Singh, manager Sudharshan Naidu, and a brother of Sumith Singh.

Man Mohan Khana (48), a Ramnagar resident who was in the hotel with his colleague Rajesh Chabra when the fire broke out, filed a complaint with the Monda Market police station.

Mahankali ACP B Ramesh is investigating the case. “This is a grave matter. There were eight deaths and ten injuries. An ACP will be assisted by several teams in the investigation,” said a police official.

On Tuesday morning, forensic experts and clue teams examined and analyzed the hotel.

Gemopal electrical scooters were not authorized to keep electric vehicles in the building, according to the police.

Several people were rescued using crane ladders by the Fire Department, while locals also helped in the rescue operation. There are also videos showing people jumping out of hotel windows to escape the fire.

The injured have been transported to various hospitals throughout the city for treatment, and the fire has been put out, according to CV Anand.

The water sprinkler system in the building did not function when the fire broke out, according to officials, which is also being probed.

Telangana Home Minister Mohammad Mehmood Ali expressed his condolences for the loss of life and announced that an investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who died in the accident and Rs 50,000 for those injured.
