Severe Heatwaves In Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan; India Meteorological Department

As climate change continues to become a concern for nations across the world, some states in India are said to be boiling. Delhi, Haryana, and West Rajasthan are predicted to suffer from “severe heatwave” in the next 6-7 days with the temperature rising above 40 degrees Celsius every day.

Maximum Temperature Predicted To Be 42 Degrees in Delhi 

As per the latest reports from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi is predicted to reach around 42 degrees celsius in the upcoming days. At the same time, the lack of rainfall and hot winds blowing from Rajasthan will also reach Delhi.
This comes a day after the severe heatwave gripped Delhi with the mercury rising to 43.5 degrees celsius. This is seven notches above the normal and highest this year. IMD said that the minimum temperature noted on Thursday morning was at 31.7 degrees. And this was also four notches above the normal temperature.
However, in some isolated places in the cities, the weather office also predicted that they might see a possibility of thunder development and heatwave conditions.
“Heatwave condition at few places with severe heatwave condition at isolated places in Delhi, Haryana and West Rajasthan,” the IMD forecast.
A similar weather condition was reported on Tuesday too. However, there might be some relief on Friday with a dust storm or a thunderstorm.

Northwest, Central, and Western Parts May See Some Rainfall

While the northern states in India may suffer severe heatwaves, the northwest, Central and Western parts of Peninsular India may see subdued rainfall activities in the next 6-7 days. The IMD said that under the influences of strong moist southwesterly winds at the lower tropospheric levels from the Bay of Bengal, states including Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim and Northeastern states may see heavy rainfall.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram. Tripura during the next three days.
