Shantingar snooker parlor raided, 18 arrested

Breaking all norms of curfews imposed by the state government, a snooker parlor in the city was found to be functioning beyond the permitted time limits.

Kings Snooker Parlour in Shantinagar was raided by the Central Zone Task Force after receiving a tip from their sources regarding the late open hours of the service place.

The Commissioner’s Task Force, led by MA Jaweed, inspector of the Central Task Force, broke in the parlor and searched the area. Upon investigation, the news was found to be true with customers still there, playing the game with leisure.

The video captured by the police since the moment they barged in showed two people assigned at the reception desk, one of whom is believed to be the owner of the place and is identified as Habeeb.

In the later hours of Tuesday, the parlor was still open where many customers were also seen, brushing away every precautionary measure.

One of them tries to cover his mask-less face with his tshirt by pulling it up. However, when the official demands to expose his face, he does so with initial hesitance.

Eighteen people were arrested from the parlor, 3 of whom are told to be minors. All of them were later sent to the Nampally police station as the snooker parlor falls under the Nampally station limits.

Defying new levels of carelessness, this incident marks the perception of the residents of the city towards the deadly virus. With this unbothered mentality filed in the minds of the youth, the increasing numbers of cases of covid-19 is quite obvious. The curve won’t get flattened until and unless the youngsters and other age group people of Hyderabad realize the gravity of the situation and stay at home, taking all the necessary protective measures.

The total number of cases in the state now stand at 37, 745 while the fatality toll is told to be 375.
