YSR Telangana Party founder-president YS Sharmila today demanded that the State government order an inquiry into the construction of the Kaleswaram lift irrigation project. He asked the State government as to what was the main reason behind its decision to hand over the contract of the project to the Megha Engineering Company belonging to Krishna Reddy.
Speaking at a protest held at Jal Soudha in Erra Manzil here, Sharmila alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his family members had shared in the corruption that took place in the Kaleswaram project. Stating that the Devadula lift irrigation project built by her father former chief minister YSR is still intact, she ridiculed that the Kaleswaram project built by KCR was inundated in the recent floods.

She said a detailed inquiry should be held on the construction of the project and added that they would soon meet Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan and submit a representation in this regard. Sharmila later handed over a representation to the Engineer-in-Chief of Irrigation department Muralidhar after the protest.
