SHE Teams arrest 240 men for harassment of women during Ganesh Chaturthi

SHE Teams sleuths caught 240 persons misbehaving with women during the recently concluded 10-day Ganesh festival.

It was found that the arrested were touching women inappropriately, stalking them, and taking photos of them near Ganesh pandals throughout the city.

In Hyderabad, the SHE Team had a presence at all Ganesh Pandals under the Hyderabad Commissionerate, according to Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes & SIT) AR Srinivas.

She Team members who were incognito in the crowd in mufti (plain clothes) with secret cameras caught 240 people intentionally touching and harassing women during the Ganesh Celebrations.

After She Team’s sleuths presented sufficient evidence to the Nampally Court, the trial court sentenced the accused to a fine of Rs 250 and imprisonment ranging from two to ten days.

It is not easy to escape the eyes of SHE Teams regardless of where the place is, no matter how big the crowd is. If you think your unethical acts of acting indecently with women will not be caught by SHE Team’s hidden cameras, it is your ignorance,” said Addl CP Srinivas.

In the last 10 weeks, the Rachakonda She Teams arrested 106 people for harassing women, including a swimming coach, a school teacher, and an RTC bus conductor. There were also 41 minors arrested for these offenses.

According to officials, the She Teams also prevented four child marriages during the same time period.

During this period, they had booked 82 cases, including 29 First Information Reports and 36 petty cases, after receiving complaints from girls and women from multiple sources, including directly, through WhatsApp, and through social media, from various hotspots such as metro trains, stations, bus stations, places of employment, and colleges across the Rachakonda Police limits.

Those apprehended were required to attend mandatory counseling sessions led by trained counselors and professional psychologists at the Police Commissioner’s camp office in LB Nagar.
