Skyrocketing prices of vegetables put a big hole in the pockets of Common Man

Hyderabad: The Corona showed its effect on the prices of vegetables in Hyderabad. The skyrocketing rates of vegetables are registered in the city nowadays due to which the general public is facing a catch22 situation.

The prices put a big hole in the pockets of the common man. Tomatoes prices registered 40 to 50 Rs per kilo. Likewise, the vegetable vendors are selling ladyfinger at 30 Rs, Bitter gourd at 30 Rs, Brinjal 30 Rs, Carrot 50 Rs, Pumpkin 40 Rs, Capsicum 65 Rs per kilo.

Vegetable vendors maintained that the rates are high due to non-transport of vegetables to State Capital from neighboring states. Some traders are in a dilemma as the customers are not visiting the markets till 11 am.

The situation is unchanged in the several Rythu Bazaars of the Old city as well. The officials of the Rythu Bazaars expressed their sorrow as the situation has not changed the aftermath of the unlock exercise.

On the other hand, the buyers claimed that they are forced to buy the vegetables at higher rates as it is their daily need and nowadays the skyrocketing rates of the essential commodities especially vegetable prices put added financial burden on them.

They demanded that the government should intervene on this issue and control the prices. The ryots are worried as they are not able to supply their products due to lack of transport facility in the post lockdown period.
