Somesh Kumar appointed new Chief Secretary

Hyderabad: The State government has decided to appoint senior IAS officer Somesh Kumar as new Chief Secretary. Somesh Kumar, a 1989 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the fifth Chief Secretary of Telangana State.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has signed the relevant order here on Tuesday. Somesh Kumar will be in the new post from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2023. The State government has taken this decision as Somesh Kumar will have long term to serve and it will offer stability. A native of Bihar, Somesh Kumar, is currently Special Chief Secretary for Revenue, Commercial Taxes and Excise departments of the State government.

The Chief Minister has also decided to appoint the outgoing Chief Secretary SK Joshi, who is retiring today, as Advisor to Government on Irrigation matters.
