Police seize drugs from four overstaying foreigners

The Hyderabad police arrested four foreigners last week who were allegedly peddling drugs and overstaying in Hyderabad.

In a press conference, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand announced that 20 grams of cocaine and 110 grams of methamphetamine had been seized from the arrested.

Two Nigerians, a Yemeni, and a Tanzanian were among those arrested. There are still two Nigerians at large believed to be the main cocaine and methamphetamine suppliers.

There is a hunt for them underway. Deputy Commissioner of Police Gummi Chakravarthy headed a team of Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) officers who arrested the foreigners.

Investigators identified 23 people who purchased drugs from the arrested, Mr. Anand said. The drug consumers are also on the run.

H-NEW also arrested three Nigerians and two Ivorians for overstaying illegally in a separate operation. A request was forwarded to Hyderabad’s Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) to deport them to their respective countries.
