Stop illegal Andhra Pradesh project: Harish to Gadkari

Hyderabad: Caretaker irrigation Minister, T Harish Rao today complained to the Centre against Andhra Pradesh Government for violating norms by taking up lift irrigation works. In a letter addressed to Union Shipping and Water Resources and Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari, Harish Rao expressed serious displeasure at the AP Government for trying to construct an illegal lift works for 40 tmc waters for Ananthapur district.

He appealed to the Centre to take immediate steps against the AP Government for starting the works related to the lift works to get about 40 TMCs. As per the norms the AP Government has to submit a detailed project report (DPR) to Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and give the copy to Telangana Government.  Followed by KRMB scrutiny, Apex Council has to approve the DPR, he explained. However, without these all things, the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is blatantly violating the norms, he deplored. Keeping this in view the Centre should immediately direct the AP Chief Minister to stop the works of the lift and complete the formalities, he urged. He also asked Gadkari to see that the AP Government sends DPR copy to Telangana Government as per norms.(NSS)
